SOFIA IS GOING TO DO IT AGAIN

Do you love Sofia Coppola like I do? Lost in Translation was a revelation for me in film. But I think the music gets me along with the movie. Loving music like I do, her movies combine the best of both. I still can't get over the perfection of the Marie Antoinette soundtrack and it's juxtaposition with the time period it was paired with.

I am also totally addicted to movie trailors. I get wrapped up in them, I watch them repeatedly, I get emotional. And i do NOT skip them at the movies. In fact, I make sure to get there early so that I can see everyone of them. And I frequent Apple Trailers to watch up and coming ones. One of my dream jobs has always been to be a music supervisor for films and tv. I just think about music in terms of when it should happen in life. So, if ya'll know anyone that needs some music supervising, holler at me.

But, back to reality. I will be seeing this movie. And, I will drag Chris with me. And I will be SO excited to see or hear Sophia's boyfriend Thomas Mars, lead singer of one our favs, Phoenix. I'm expecting very good things. I mean, the trailor got me emotional. (I'm such a sucker for life moments combined with good tunes)

And as designers as well as musicians, we love posters of any kind. And we're loving this one.
Happy Friday ya'll!

  1. One of my best friends is a music supervisor! She works for Sony in Los Angeles. I'll have her let me know if they ever need a hand outside the office! ;)

Somewhere is going to be incredible. I LOVE Sofia Coppola's work and I totally agree about the emotion that music adds to a trailer/movie. Elle Fanning is SO lovely! I can't wait to see this movie.

Happy Weekend Elizabeth & Chris :)

  2. Erin: that is just the coolest! I'll help her out! ;)

I am so pumped about it. Chris will get annoyed because I will watch trailers repeatedly when they air on tv, even if I have already watched them. Like, the Where the Wild Things are trailer with Arcade Fire...every time I watched it, every time.

Hope you have a great weekend too! :)

  3. Agreed on all of the above! I make the Fancy watch the trailers when we watch DVD's even when we've seen them prior. I know a couple that made trailers for a living and rolled in the dough. It really is a creative field because you have that tiny bit of time to make your audience want to go out and see. The worse is getting a great trailer and then watching a sucky movie!

  4. Miss B: thank the lawwwwd, i'm not alone! That is so true about just having a tiny amount of time.
And, um, YES, i have been sucked in by good trailers, bad movie. I especially hate when they use super good tunes in the trailer and then the movie features nothing like that. false. advertising. ya'll.
