SPIFFY AD AND ARTIST WE HEART
Hope you all had a relaxing 4th of July weekend! We were at the beach where we enjoyed good food, relaxation, some kayaking and family time. Whilst laying out on the beach reading my magazines, I noticed this awesome Sherwin Williams ad. I have been seeing the series lately and each time I become more and more fascinated. Using paper paint chips to create items is just brilliant. And of course the paper art was created by the ever growing-in-fame paper sculpter, Matthew Sporzynski. You may know him from his amazing work in Real Simple (a few samples above) . The Sherwin Williams ad campaign was created by some of our local rockstars in Durham, McKinney. Chris and I actually have friends who work there and who have worked there so we are always excited to see any work they put out. I think this ad campaign shows some true smarts! And there's more, to see all of the campaign including the animated tv spots, check it out here.

I think they are great too! I wish I was still working at McKinney whenever I see them. Although, I'm not sure about Sherwin Williams going with their retro logo...
ReplyDeleteThese are seriously amazing! The popcorn really got me. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. The. COOLEST. I am in lust with the popcorn and gelato/(ice cream?). What an incredible find!!!
ReplyDeleteI know ya'll, what an awesome artistry he has! So much wit and imagination!
ReplyDeleteRegan: I was referring to you and Kristin as the people we knew! I agree about the logo...not sure about that either!
That is SO cool! I love them all, but especially the ice cream sundae. This is an absolutely genius concept!!!
ReplyDeleteThose fries!! YUMMY!!!
ReplyDeleteSo: I have to tell you a random story this post has had me thinking of:
ReplyDeleteIn the advert. building at school, they always showcase the latest projects by students and one was a campaign for a local steakhouse & seafood place. They drew up a pig putting himself through a grinder and a lobster diving into a pot of water...as in "So good they'll kill themselves to be part of it" kind of vibe. It was so funny and brilliantly drawn that I wanted to share it the first day I saw this...BUT today I went down there and there was only a yellow sheet in its place "Someone helped us run away, help us find our way back home" with little polaroids of the ads. :( So sad. They were originals and e'erything.
Random. But I love these ads!
Melissa and Melissa: I know ya'll, I'm hungry just thinking about the ice cream and the fries!
ReplyDeleteLizzie:
DANG girl! that is sad! They need to not post originals next time and just copies!
those sound so smart and funny!
I have seen these ads lately too and thought they were so creative. Always loved what that guy did in the Real Simple magazines a true skill.
ReplyDeletePaper sculpture is such a cool discipline. Love the idea of creating fragile 3D models. The Sherwin Williams ads are awesome, the commercial has been making me all dreamy-eyed whenever I catch it. Thanks for sharing the print work, I had not seen it!
ReplyDeleteMatthew was my teacher at Parsons!!
